From Humble Beginnings to a Bold Vision: My Journey to Mrs. Asia USA International 2025
On November 16, 2024, I was deeply honored and humbled to be crowned Mrs. Asia USA International 2025. This extraordinary platform is more than a title—it is a call to action, a responsibility, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to amplify my mission of creating an even greater impact locally and globally. As I step into this role, I reflect on the journey that has led me to this moment — a path shaped by resilience, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Born in Taiwan in the Year of the Dragon, my early years were marked by resilience and adventure. As a toddler, I journeyed with my parents to Salt Lake City, Utah, carrying little more than a couple of suitcases. My father pursued his Master’s degree, and we eventually moved to Chicago, where my childhood was a mix of joyful moments—like Saturday morning cartoons and family outings to Pizza Hut—alongside painful experiences of discrimination. The "ching chong chang" taunts and moments of physical aggression because of my heritage left lasting impressions but also forged my inner strength.
After 10 years in the US, my family returned to Taiwan when I was 12. At 13, driven by a strong sense of purpose, I made the bold decision to return to the US alone to complete my high school education. From there, my journey led to UC Berkeley and UCLA, where I earned my MBA, and then to a thriving 20+ year career in Silicon Valley. I held leadership roles at HP, Oracle, Yahoo, Adobe, Ingram Micro, and Cisco, breaking barriers as an Asian woman in tech leadership.
Amid these professional milestones, my husband and I raised two children, navigating challenges that included supporting our daughter through mental health struggles, ADHD, and a severe scoliosis diagnosis that required spinal corrective surgery. With her perseverance and our family’s strong support system, we triumphed through these hardships, emerging stronger and more connected.
Alongside our careers—my husband’s 20-year tenure at NVIDIA and my own—we built a commercial real estate portfolio and founded Wayo Ventures, helping others achieve financial independence. In 2021, I took a leap of faith, leaving my corporate career to focus on entrepreneurship and real estate asset management. This pivot allowed me to align my professional pursuits with my passion for creating lasting impact.
In early 2024, I launched the Dragon Hearts Foundation, driven by the belief that education and empowerment are the keys to unlocking potential. Through this foundation, I have raised over $70,000 in scholarships, funding opportunities for underrepresented students, and supporting initiatives that champion AAPI representation, youth, and women of color.
Stepping into the role of Mrs. Asia USA International 2025 marks a new chapter in my journey of building a legacy. It is a celebration of resilience, values, and the drive to create meaningful change. With this platform, I am committed to empowering communities, building bridges, and leaving a positive impact that will endure. Together with the incredible network of individuals I’ve met along the way, I look forward to inspiring others to embrace their potential, dream big, and take bold steps toward new aspirations.
To everyone who has supported me on this journey—thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is only the beginning. Let’s continue to dream big, work boldly, and make a difference, one step at a time.
